Abstract: Global change, related to increasing temperatures and ocean acidification (OA), pose a serious threat to marine organisms. Especially the taxonomic groups that precipitate calcium carbonate from seawater, such as corals and calcareous macroalgae, are at particularly high risk. Hence, over the last decade, increasing efforts have been made to understand the response of these organisms to the concurrent effects of warming and OA, in order to forecast and address likely future marine ecosystem changes.
